Well, now that I’m hopefully done fighting with a bunch of masturbating Mormons (ROFLOL), maybe I can get back to making some fun 3D movies, again.
The last thing that really got everyone tweaked out, resulting in a bunch of personal attacks in the Yahoo 3DTV and Photo3D groups, was my attempt at showing people how and why to avoid using shallow depth and excessive depth (stereoscopic deviation, or what some of us call “net deviation” or “NetD”, i.e. “total depth”).
BTW, that last time I looked, the Photo3D group is beating up a 72 year old “senior”. I hope he has enough sense to get out of there quick. I’ve been in those groups since they started, over 10 years ago, and I think the recent popularity of stereoscopic 3D has caused this weird tension in those groups. Some of us saw the same thing happen with kites (e.g. rec.kites) in the 1990′s… yes, kites… I know… can you imagine getting death threats over kites? Now you know why I laugh at everything on the Internet when it comes to fighting. Yes, it has given me a warped sense of humor, I’m afraid. But, I digress… *big grin*
So, anywhoooo, I hope to get back to some demonstrations showing alternatives to all these wild amounts of depth commonly seen in 3D movies these days. Lots of people are giving up on the recent “3D fad”, but hopefully it will survive the storm. The problem is most people don’t know why “3D doesn’t work” when it doesn’t, including, sadly, most of the so-called “3D experts”.
The problem is the “NetD”. “NetD” is the “canary in the mine” for stereo 3D. Solving the NetD problem pretty much solves everything, with the exception of the relatively small percentage of people who cannot see 3D for various reasons. There will never be a solution for that except 2D. LOL.
Back in the good old days (10 years ago, for me), it was a common thing to hear people say, “shoot for deviation”, i.e. the deviation should be the goal. They were absolutely correct.
I am not the only person who knows this “key” to good 3D, but unfortunately for me, sometimes, I am probably the one with the biggest mouth…

And, yes, my “boss” really did tell me I can’t post to those groups, again… You probably thought I was joking about that. :) ))

Have a Great Day!

Roger Maddy

*Update:
My 3D version of the “Septic Tank For The Jolly Green Giant” for the Photo3D group is here:

…and the “Yahoo 3DTV Group In Hell” is here:

Boss,
I understand you are not going to let me post to the Yahoo 3D Groups any more, and I certainly do not want to lose my job.
I love food and shelter and can’t afford to get fired.
But, as a final tribute, I am going to do a stereoscopic rendering of my “Septic Tank For The Jolly Green Giant” for the Photo3D group, and the “Yahoo 3DTV Group In Hell”. Don’t worry, I am not going to post the images to the groups. I will never post anything to those groups again.
Then, I hope to get back on track, to more important and fun stuff.
I only learned one thing in the past few weeks in there, and that was actually a result of me Googling something, i.e. the “F-stop of the human eye”.
When you stop learning, you are DEAD. I saw a whole bunch of dead people in there.
So, I’m going to better places, where I can LEARN.
Septic tanks and Hell are not the best places to learn.

Have a Great Day!

Thanks,
Roger Maddy

Yahoo 3DTV Group In Hell

Also uploaded to Twitpic.com, Tumblr.com, Photobucket.com, etc.

Leave it up to me to come up with a proper 3D model for the Yahoo 3DTV Group in Hell.
They put me on “moderated” status, which really puts them in Hell, since I was one of the original members.

They lose, big-time.
Stereoscopic failure.
6.66% Net Deviation.
The REAL heat is on, now……….

Thanks,
Roger Maddy

I figured a group would finally end up in Hell:
The 3DTV Yahoo Group.
I was one of the original “members” over 10 years ago.
Now, I’ve just been put on “moderated” status.
3DTV Yahoo Group, welcome to Hell.

The worst part about this is I have no idea how to make a 3D model of Hell…….
Go figger.

Thanks,
Roger Maddy

Go ahead and call me a Bible-thumping American Cowboy wearing a large pair of rubber boots. I won’t be offended.
Today, after a wild weekend of fun under the Full Moon, I am handing out a couple of awards.
For those of you who were paying attention, the Yahoo Photo3D Group Moderators recently received a Septic Tank from me for “blocking” one of my photos. They downgrading from a Bomb Shelter to that Septic Tank. Thank God (or maybe that should be “tank God”) they didn’t take a long ride into the Bottomless Pit. I will let those who missed the fun Google for those photos.
But, the grand prize winner, today, goes to the Cinematography 3D List.
They get a Casket and Some White Roses:
