If you want that perfectly cubic stereoscopic 3D illusion (and you know you do), then the ground (or floor) is your best friend. The closest point on the ground becomes the designated near point.
The Bloggie 3D camera, however, with its less-than-one-inch separation between left and right lenses, has to get so close to the ground in this case, that it’s a strange-looking perspective, unless you are filming shoes or cats or something.
If you have a 3D rig with a wider stereo base, then you can get much higher up off the ground into a more-normal position.
This clip is uncut, and the edges of the door jam violate the stereoscopic formula in a couple of places (I was shooting out the door.

I am still trying to figure out how to get a smooth pan without getting involved in a science project, i.e., by making a dolly or something. I put the camera on a Gorillapod, which has magnetic feet, attached that to a metal cookie sheet, then slid it across a piece of cloth.
Some of the sounds you are hearing are air-conditioners, since it’s 97 degrees outside (on the 17th of October).
I’m using .5% positive parallax, again, so I can watch it on a 40 foot wide screen and not have to diverge my eyes.
Also, I used my ghost-free, keystoned border, because the chicks really dig it. ;/
It was a scary ride… total chaos, too much traffic on the highway, and the unsafe bicycle has broken spokes and needs a serious fixing-up. Because of all that chaos, the composited dual-shot with the talking-to-myself effect… one recorded while going up the road (the background), and the other one while going back down (my head)… is probably appropriate.
The good news is the homemade Bloggie microphone windscreen seems to work perfectly, which is why I shot this video, i.e., to test the windscreen.
The Gorillapod… not as lucky. I need a better way to mount the camera to the bike. Also, that shot straight up at my head, although much more steady than the background, because the right side of the camera was resting firmly on the bell, is a very odd angle. Not sure what could be done about that.

The Bloggie 3D on the Gorillapod mounted on the bicycle handlebars was a total disaster in every imaginable way.
BTW, you can probably see why kids laugh at Janice and I with our helmets, but we’ve still got plenty of brains after all these years.
