One of the convenient things about this homemade Steadicam is the length of it places it just the right distance away from your head, if you prop the end of it up against your belly. This is assuming that your belly isn’t extra large, of course. :)
Here’s the Steadicam I am using: https://plus.google.com/photos/106491773395617461590/albums/posts/5797732801516622114

As you can see, my bike tire is fixed, but now I have another problem… I lost half of my rear view mirror in Santa Monica last Wednesday.
I need to find a new one before Janice and I head for the beach with our two new bikes.
This video, as usual, has close to 1/30 Net Deviation (NetD), which is the only way to produce a perfectly cubic stereoscopic illusion, viewable with any horizontal field of view (from any seat).

Watch this video in 2D or 3D by clicking on the “3D” button under the video and selecting your options, e.g., “Turn off 3D”.
If you are using red/cyan anaglyph glasses, be sure to select “Red/Cyan” then “Optimized (Dubois)”.

High upon a ridge between home and where Janice Maddy works, I am looking for a bicycle shortcut.
Lots of steep switchbacks and hundreds of feet of elevation change make it a poor choice for a bike route, but it sure is a good spot to shoot 3D pictures and videos.
During the first half of the video, I am facing north towards home, and in the second half, I had walked a few hundred feet over to the other side of the ridge, facing south.

Notice in this video that my new homemade Bloggie microphone windscreen doesn’t seem to muffle the sound, which is good, since I can just leave it attached to the camera.
What is that sound in the background, though? The refrigerator? My computer?

Getting only one or two video views is no longer fun for me (Jim and/or Janice?). I don’t see any way around this problem other than to shoot half nude women at the mall and chicks in bikinis at the beach. If teenage girls, Orange County housewives, Los Angeles ladies, Hollywood hopefuls, beautiful babes, young, old and everything in between, can’t generate enough video views to keep my interest going, then it’s pretty much over for me.
This is also a good thing for Janice, since she will save lots of money if I don’t have to go look for another more expensive hobby like most men have.
Thank God it doesn’t take much to make me happy.

It was a scary ride… total chaos, too much traffic on the highway, and the unsafe bicycle has broken spokes and needs a serious fixing-up. Because of all that chaos, the composited dual-shot with the talking-to-myself effect… one recorded while going up the road (the background), and the other one while going back down (my head)… is probably appropriate.
The good news is the homemade Bloggie microphone windscreen seems to work perfectly, which is why I shot this video, i.e., to test the windscreen.
The Gorillapod… not as lucky. I need a better way to mount the camera to the bike. Also, that shot straight up at my head, although much more steady than the background, because the right side of the camera was resting firmly on the bell, is a very odd angle. Not sure what could be done about that.
